DBT Skills Class for Tweens
You can’t think your way out of emotions. You have to learn skills.

Growing up comes with big emotions, changing friendships, and new challenges. Our DBT Skills Class for Tweens helps young people learn practical tools to better understand and manage their emotions while building stronger communication and coping skills.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills are evidence based strategies that help children and teens improve emotional regulation, handle stress, and strengthen relationships.

Age Range: 10-13 years old
Schedule: Thursday, 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Format: In-Person
Parent Participation: One parent or caregiver is required to attend with their child. Parents attend so they can learn the same skills and support their child in practicing them at home.

Participants will learn and practice skills including
Distress Tolerance: Coping with difficult moments without making things worse
Emotional Regulation: Understanding and managing strong emotions
Validation: Recognizing and acknowledging emotions in themselves and others
Accurate Expression: Communicating feelings clearly and respectfully
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Building healthy friendships and relationships
Mindfulness: Paying attention to the present moment with awareness and curiosity
Designed to give tweens and their parents practical tools they can use immediately in everyday situations at home, school, and with friends.
